_X__ Development of 3-year Programme
___ Development of Committee or Working Group. Please specify.

___ Adoption of Resolution. Please specify.
_X__ Adoption of Constitutional Amendment Please specify.
Amendments on co-presidency.
___ Specific Proposal from your Section. Please specify.
___ Other. Please list below:

Geneva Office

We would like some feedback on the section mailing. Do you like the frequency and length? What topics would you like to see covered?

We find the monthly section mailing very satisfactory.

What information from the Geneva Office would be helpful to you?
Right now we need concrete information on the Congress programme and on the financial implications of the Congress. But normally we find the information we get from the Secretary General sufficient.

What do you see as priority issues for the work of the Geneva Office?

The contact with the sections and planning of IEC meetings and Congress. Fundraising. And for the Secretary General – policy making according to our aims and principles and to her knowledge of and experience from the UN.

How could we improve communication between us (E-Mail, Conference Calls, Section Visits)?

A visit to all/some of the sections from Geneva between Congresses would be desirable – but we know it is too time-consuming and expensive. Maybe some sections can make their (financial) contributions in order to make this happen.
We find the work in the Geneva office vital for the ongoing work in WILPF.

UN Office (New York)

What information from the UN Office would be helpful to you?
Nothing further.

What do you see as priority issues for the work of the UN Office?
The work with and the long time follow up on resolution 1325.

How could we improve communication between us (E-Mail, Conference Calls, Section Visits)?
Section visits could be a good idea in connection with the regular section mailing.

Do you use the Reaching Critical Will website?

Yes X

No

If so for what? What is the most useful? What would make the site more useful for you?

We use the website for information and inspiration in our own work.

Do you read the RCW E-news reports on CD, UN GA 1st Committee, NPT?
Yes. And use it for information.

What could be improved?
We find your work in the UN office excellent.

Do you use the Peace Women website?

Yes X

No

If so for what? What is the most useful? What would make the site more useful for you?

We use the website for information and inspiration.
Sometimes it could be good to have a more informal debate among the membership. Maybe a kind of blog could be used for that purpose.
We exchange experience among the Scandinavian sections and are now also starting to do it at a more regular basis among the European Sections and find this very useful.

Do you read the Peace Women E-news?
Yes.

What could be improved?

Does the work of your section relate to the United Nations?

Yes X

No

If so how?
We relate our work to resolution 1325 and CEDAW.
One of our branches is working with the UN Draft Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples.
We have also a group working on the Palermo Protocol.

We know that each Section is involved in many important areas of work and are extremely excited to hear about that work. Please do not feel that you must answer all of the areas listed below.

Does your section work on WILPF’s International Program?

Yes X

No

What is your main focus?
 1325, Trafficking and Asylum Policies.

Global Economic Justice?

Yes

No X

How?

Environmental Sustainability?

Yes

No X

How?

Disarmament and Demilitarization

Yes X

No

How?
Together with Women in Black (which was started in Denmark by Danish WILPF and is very connected to the section) we demonstrate twice a month against or for different issues for instance the war in Iraq.
We will probably in the near future start working together with the other Nordic Sections on cluster bombs, and may also resume our work on the missile defense because of the upgrading of the Thule base and our Danish government’s expressed wish to get “protection” from the shield.        Political lobbying.

Water?

X Yes

No

How?
One of our branches has collected money and build five rainwater-tanks in a village in Tanzania.
Individual members have also researched on (the eager attempts of) privatization of water in Denmark.

SCR 1325/Women and Peace and Security Issues?

Yes X

No

How?
We try to implement resolution 1325 in all our work. And we have tried to influence on the government’s policy in this field, also by giving input to the Danish Action Plan.

Women’s political participation?

Yes X

No

How?
Since the mid 90’ies we have supported women’s projects in former Yoguslavia. And about women’s political participation we are now working together with and supporting women from Serbia (where the problems as for women’s participation are huge).

Sexual and Gender based violence issues?

Yes X

No

How?
One of our main focuses is working with trafficking in women for prostitution and other kinds of sexual exploitation which is in our opinion gender based violence..
A small group is focusing on how the different parties approach the problem, and how we, according to that, will take action.

What is the political situation in your country?
The political situation in Denmark is still unchanged with a liberal government supported by DF, a nationalistic right wing party. The situation for our refugees and asylum seekers has not changes – some of the asylum seekers from e.g. Iraq have been sitting in refugee camps for more than 7 years. Our legislation has been tightened even more.
Fortunately it looks like the main part of the Danish soldiers will be withdrawn from Iraq in August 2007, we have protested against this illegal war since it started in 2002.
