Human Rights Council
Resumed Session 2 and Session 3

The second session of the Human Rights Council was originally meant to run from September 18 to October 6.  Due to the lengthy discussions involved over various decisions and resolutions that were meant to be passed during this session, it was not concluded on October 6th but was suspended to be re-opened on November 27, the planned beginning date of the third session.  The Human Rights Council President, His Excellency Mr. Luis Alfonso de Alba, in an informal discussion with NGOs held at the United Nations November 22, stated that the postponement of these decisions was a wiser alternative than deciding on them without giving them the proper discussion.

November 29 marked the beginning of the third session of the Human Rights Council.  This session is primarily an institution building session and will cover topics such as the Universal Periodic Review, Complaint Procedure, Special Rapporteurs, Expert Advice and Working Methods.  WILPF reports from these meetings can be found below.
