Civil Society Forum on Cluster Munitions

At the Third Review Conference of The Convention on Prohibitions or Restrictions on the Use of Certain Conventional Weapons Which May be Deemed to be Excessively Injurious or to Have Indiscriminate Effects, (Convention on Certain Conventional Weapons, or CCW) held in Geneva from 7-17 November 2006, the government of Norway invited interested governments to come to Norway to discuss the possibility of a treaty banning Cluster Munitions. This meeting will be held in Oslo, 22-23 February. There will be NGO-acitivities in the period Feb 20-23 related to the conference in February, organised by the international Cluster Munitions Committee and its Norwegian branch, Norwegian Peoples' Aid, the primary Norwegian mine-clearing organisation. There will be some places for NGO observers at the conference, and a separate NGO program with seminars. WILPF Norway will be participating in this event.
