|
The Dutch Section is participating in the Dutch Platform ’Women and Sustainable Peace’ an initiative of nine women’s peace organizations. At this moment a priority is to make an analyses of already existing national action plans, like from Norway, Sweden, Denmark and Canada. This with the objective to have a constructive input in the second part of the year, when the Dutch ministry of Foreign Affairs will organize a meeting with NGO’s to have their input and comments on the draft Dutch national action plan on SCR 1325.
Th e Platform ‘Women and sustainable Peace has produced in September 2006 a brochure in Dutch on SCR 1325 to male in known. The past period the platform has been working on a funding proposal ‘WCA 1325:Women Creating Alternatives to armed conflict’ with the objective to organize a conference around March 8, 2008
WILPF Netherlands is also participating in the Dutch coalition of People Building Peace. One of the items is that SCR 1325 has not to be only a women’s matter but an important concern of the Dutch peace movement, women and men.

How? |
What is the political situation in your country?
We had elections and we have now a centrum left government. Christen Democrats and the labour party form a government with support of a third Christian party.
One important change is that this government will be less severe on admitting refugees. We hope that a lot of illegal immigrants who are longer than 6 years in our country will be admitted.
We hope also that what is leftover of the social security state will be saved, although a lot of privatization of f.i. post, public transport and energy is still in the process of privatization.
There is on the issue of immigrants a polarization of the debate in the political area and also in public and in the neighborhoods.
The faithful Islamite have to pay for it.
We take part in the NATO led war in Afghanistan with the motivation of fighting the war on terrorism, and our army is supposed to help the people in Urguzan to rebuild their country, but helas we first have to make the place saver for the inhabitants so we have to fight the people who oppose against this intervention.
Our parliament supports this mission and the reasons behind it.
It’s not a time to be proud of our countrie.
