Nominations Committee Report

To: IEC members, sections, members of the nominations committee and all the nominees for the international officers team 2007-2010.

Dear friends,

As convenor of the Nominations Committee I have made the following overview of:

1) the nominations received from WILPF sections in reaction to the letter of January 2007.

2) as well as the (not) received agreements for the offices of the nominees.

I am embarrassed that only 12 sections sent in nominees.

From the input of the nominations I hope the new team of international Officers reflects the board diversity and international character of WILPF. The Norwegian section underlines "the importance of a younger officers group than what we have now".

Overview in alphabetical order of the nominations by the WILPF sections.

For President

Regina Birchem (USA), nominated by El Salvador and Israel
Annelise Ebbe (Denmark), nominated by Denmark, Colombia and the United Kingdom
Kerstin Greback (Sweden), nominated by Sweden, Denmark and USA
Felicity Hill (Australia), nominated by Norway

For Vice President

Kozue Akibayashi (Japan), nominated by Japan, El Salvador, USA and Colombia.
Martha Jean Baker (UK), nominated by the UK, Colombia and the Netherlands
Martha Benavides (El Salvador), nominated by El Salvador and Israel
Annelise Ebbe (Denmark), nominated by Denmark, Norway, Sweden, El Salvador and USA.
Kerstin Greback (Sweden), nominated by Norway
Amparo Guerrero (Colombia), nominated by Colombia, Sweden, Norway, Denmark and USA
Felicity Hill (Australia), nominated by Australia, USA, Sweden and Denmark
Samira Khoury (Lebanon), nominated by El Salvador and Israel
Nadee Tharanga (Sri Lanka), nominated by Sri Lanka

For Treasurer

Michaela Told (Austria), nominated by Colombia and El Salvador
Tamara James (USA), nominated by Denmark

As convenor of the Nominations Committee I can not see if the following nominations are correct for VICE PRESIDENT.

Patricia Willes (USA), nominated by Colombia
Taghrid Shbita (Israel, nominated by Denmark and USA)

Also the nominations from the Israeli section for Liss Schanke (Norway) and Paij Wadley-Bayley (USA) are unclear.

Overview of the agreements and bibliographical notes from the nominees.

In the letter from January 2007 to the WILPF sections the sections were asked to each person nominated to send to the Geneva Office their agreement to stand for elections (By-laws 5.4), together with their biographical notes, paying especially attention to their work in WILPF. This should reach the Geneva Office not later than March 23rd 2007.

At this moment we did NOT yet receive from the biographical notes from Tamara James.

For the sitting Officers a short biographical nota should be sufficient.

Will you please send this in before June 15th?

Nomations out of procedure.

The French Polynesian section sent an e-mail "confirming all officers elected in 2005" (which is incorrect) without giving any names.

The Palestinian section did not give any nominees. We received biographical notes from Hanan Awwad.

The next step is the official confirmation of this report at Congress. After that the Election Committee is elected.

If you see any mistakes in this overview, please send them to me and to the Geneva Office before July 1st.

Thank you in advance for your colloboration.

Kind greetings,

Mans van Zandbergen

Convenor Nominations Committee.
