International Women's Day Disarmament Seminar

Join the NGO Working Group on Peace, part of the NGO Committee on the Status of Women for the annual International Women’s Day Disarmament Seminar. 

The seminar will take place all day on Wednesday, 8 March 2006 in the Palais des Nations Salle V, beginning at 10am, and will be followed by a presentation to the Conference on Disarmament on 9 March at 10am. 

The seminar will focus on the issue of Uranium- from Depleted to Fissile Materials. It will cover basic information- what is Uranium, how does it become a fissile material? What is "depleted" uranium and how does it change conventional weapons? The seminar will also investigate possible ways forward- including a Fissile Materials Treaty, and grassroots movements to build change.
