Number of members: 100 (Fill in the blank or amend)

Section website: no, is in process

Section 2005 Income: 10.000 Expense: 10.000

What does your Section need from the 2006 IEC and what are the specific decisions that you would like to see this IEC make to further your work?

To provide input from the international level of WILPF for our commitment as section, like more feed-back how we can relate and function more synergetic to the implementation of the programme; to find and discuss effective strategies to extend the number of members, to have some reflection how a national section could be organized well in order to be effective to implement the international programme.
As our office in Geneva is now functioning better, it would be very helpful to discuss above mentioned issues and to formulate more concrete proposals for the next period. At the Congress 2007 it would be to have an evaluation on these issues.

Geneva Office
We would like some feedback on the section mailing
The Geneva office plays an important role in the communication and feed-back to the sections, but also to the UN Office related to our projects Peace Women and Reaching Critical Will. We need to develop more how the sections and the Geneva Office should interact, or which services should provide this office and which input is needed from the sections. In particular we would like to have more feed-back on the section mailing.

What information from the Geneva Office would be helpful to you?

See above and in particular about the issues of the programme

What do you see as priority issues for the work of the Geneva Office?
Support the officers and sections by giving requested information.
Searching for new sections by participation in NGO gatherings over peace, like EPLO.
Lobbying the UN WTO.

How could we improve communication between us?

It is possible for the Secretary General to visit sections???

UN Office (New York)
What information from the UN Office would be helpful to you?

The websites are already very helpful, but sometimes it is important to have specific information about the topics for lobby to the UN on the projects and different items. This also related to the role the different sections could play in it.

What do you see as priority issues for the work of the UN Office?

Lobbying UN:disarmament, 1325, CSW

How could we improve communication between us?

Maybe through IPU

Do you use the Reaching Critical Will website? Yes No
If so for what? What is the most useful? What would make the site more useful for you?

At this moment we don't use the RCW website for actions, only on an informative way.

Do you read the RCW E-news reports on CD, UN GA 1st Committee, NPT?
no

Do you use the Peace Women website? Yes No

Most of us are members of the NVVN, the Dutch society on the UN.

Does your section work on WILPF's International Program? Yes No
What is your main focus?

Lobbying Dutch politics
We have written a booklet for the parliamentary elections of 2007. Chapters are: Prevention of armed conflicts; from defense to preventions; peace missions and peace building; statistics and gender budgeting; nuclear energy; Human rights.
In particular in the prevention of armed conflicts and to solve armed conflicts on a sustainable way, we are participating in coalitions with other Dutch organizations, like the national coalition of People Building Peace (working on the national implementation of the Global Action to Prevent Violent Conflicts) and the Dutch platform Women and Sustainable Peace. (see below)

A few members participate in a platform of the Dutch Women's Council (Women Sustainable Peace). In November 2005 WILPF Netherlands organized together with other (women) peace organizations a seminar on 1325, the goal was to get more involved.
One member did speak on the Dutch Social Forum

Women's political participation? Yes No
How?

See under main focus: booklet on Politics on Peace.
We coordinate with the German section the European Newsletter

Sexual and Gender based violence issues? Yes No
How?

We follow for WILPF International the ICC

What is the political situation in your country?

The political situation has changed just a little. The governing parties (Christian-Democrats, Liberals and Social-Liberals) have only a small majority and have lost the local elections in March this year. They are trying to stay in power until the elections for parliament in May 2007; they hope they will win because of the economy, which is growing now.
Increasingly the migrant issue is dominating the elections. Intolerance against migrants, particularly Muslims is openly expressed.
There is a gap between government and public, but there are also starting actions to bridge this gap. Saying no to the EU constitution has caused a lot of inquietude within the government.
