11th January 2008: Norway pension fund shuns GenCorp over nukes (US)

Sacramento Business Journal

Norway's global pension fund has dropped three companies with a role in producing nuclear weapons or cluster munitions, including GenCorp Inc.
The Norwegian government's pension fund -- worth more than $377 billion and managed by the central Bank of Norway -- also cited Hanwha Corp. of South Korea and Serco Group plc of Britain for their weapons-related operations. The fund found that Hanwha was involved in making cluster munitions and that GenCorp and Serco had a role in producing nuclear arms.
Norway, a NATO alliance member, has been campaigning against cluster bombs, which often go off long after the conflict ends.
Shares of GenCorp (NYSE: GY) closed down 37 cents -- or 3.4 percent -- at $10.43 Friday, a 52-week low for the defense and aerospace manufacturer based near Rancho Cordova.
